Tips on what to wear to your photoshoot
As a photographer, I’m often asked what clients should wear for their photoshoot if they want it to be timeless. My advice is always the same: stick with classic colors and silhouettes that will never go out of style.
For starters, neutrals will always look great in photographs – think white, black, gray and khaki. These are all good choices as they can easily transition from season to season without looking outdated or overly trendy. When choosing clothing items it's best to opt for solids rather than prints - choose garments with interesting details instead such as pleats on skirts/dresses which can add texture without detracting from other elements within the shot - plus they always photograph beautifully! To create an elegant feel consider adding texture with items such as fine fabrics or velvet jackets (for men). For women a soft chiffon dress can look beautiful while still being timelessly stylish.
Accessories are also important – add subtle touches of color with jewelry pieces such as pearls or gemstones which won’t overpower the rest of your outfit. The key is to stay away from logos and patterns which tend to date quickly so it's best to avoid them altogether when aiming for timelessness!
When selecting an outfit for a photoshoot session it's important to consider where you plan on displaying your portraits afterwards; this way you can ensure that the clothing won't clash with any other elements in the room! For example if you’re planning on hanging up photos above a wooden dresser then wearing earthy tones such as khaki trousers paired with brown leather boots would be complementary but also subtle enough not draw attention away from your face when viewing them later down the line!
Just remember not to get too matchy-matchy when styling yourself and family members so everyone stands out individually while still having cohesive looks overall!
A few other tips: keep makeup natural & simple, coordinate outfits between family members but don't be afraid to let each person express their own individual style within those parameters…and lastly have fun!! With these guidelines in mind there's no doubt that whatever looks you choose will create beautiful memories that stand the test of time :)
